Back in the 1980s there was a group of business leaders who were raising funds to provide poor women in the ghetto with free sterilization surgery and a fat check for agreeing to not have children. It would have been completely voluntary but they believed enough ghetto women would accept the money to break the poverty cycle that came from people in the ghetto birthing the next generation of criminals and drags on social services.
(((Leslie Stahl))) did a hit piece on them, calling them and anyone who supported the project Nazis. Their support immediately dried up as no one wanted to be seen as being a Nazi. No one else has tried since then.
