Are there any professors in /mg/. My linear algebra professor from last semester seems like the kind of guy that would post here (he had a Ph.D. in math and an anime girl desktop background on his laptop).

I ran into a homework problem that asked for a homomorphism between a group of 2x2 matrices and [math]2\mathbb{Z}[/math]. I found a homomorphism, but I did not explicitly show that it was a function. I just assumed that I was right and moved on with the rest of the proof.
If I prove that one group is homomorphic to another, should I also prove that the homomorphism is a function?
