Time cant be an acceleration force or a entropy because it doesn't reverse when you add energy, it just pauses. Any good books/videos that give in depth of explaining it?

Does tearing a piece of paper release a small amount of energy?
Burning paper breaks down chemical bonds which releases energy, and atomic breakdowns release lots of energy. Obviously the bulk properties holding paper together are much weaker forces at play, but I can't figure out if any energy is released when they break apart.
