I don't condone suicide at all. That being said, I find it somewhat fascinating.

Okay I'm not PLANNING on committing suicide but if a nuke strike happens and I start slowly dying from radiation sickness or I get something terminal, I want to go out painlessly. So I have this info graphic here and it recommends a 50 dollar helium tank, but the tank only holds 14.9 cubic feet of helium. Is this enough to do the job? I don't want to wake up with brain damage or something. Also what if you took a bunch of hydrocodon pills before hand as a "helper"?

I'm not some suicidal emo fuck, I'm just curious about the validity of the method. And yes I realize asphyxiation will eventually kill you regardless of how it occurs, but what makes this so much better than e.g. carbon monoxide from your car exhaust, or just putting a big plastic bag over your head?

I do know that scuba diver "air" is mostly helium because it has a lower solubility in biofluids than nitrogen and that helps prevent the bends. So is the claim that "your body does not know the difference between O and He" true and relevant? Wouldn't you still involuntarily panic and try to escape, the same way it's supposedly impossible to voluntarily drown yourself by holding your head underwater?
