If I were to set off a machine that emitted an extremely high frequency sound wave, would it still affect your brain?
I mean, it's still a physical happening, right? It's just not being translated by your brain into audible sound?

So I just killed a fly and something possessed me to study the remains of the fly (even though I have a mild phobia of insects which led me to concentrate on killing it in the first place)

To my horror after I squished the fly a multitude of tiny yellow-white maggots started squirming out of it's body causing me to panic and run to the bathroom to flush the whole shebang down.

I am left wondering though, what were these maggots? Why were they inside the body of a fly? Is this a common occurence?
