So I'm currently in honors Chemistry and I'd like to do a experiment on exothermic reactions with...an amazing boom/bang/explosion. Within reason of course. Nonetheless I have access to a wide variety of chemicals and want to scare the shit out of everyone.

Can someone who knows about nukes explain this to me:

I used this site

to check if i would be boned in a nuke attack. Im not in the radius at any layer, and i checked the fallout pattern and it blows away from me, but i am still somewhat close to the radius.

So I don't understand, as long as youre outside the radius youre okay, or are you just going to get radiation more slowly or what?
