my current goal is to persuade a nice lady to have sex with me in the lab

I figured out a way to rig the rotovap with a vibrating dildo I think it will be pretty sweet

more questions about entropy

Could someone explain entropy in the context of the "heat death" of the universe? (nevermind whether or not that will actually happen in reality) (S is proportional to T, but heat death implies cooling down?)

How does thermal equilibrium fit in to the bigger picture of statistical mechanics, microstates and degrees of freedom? Just thinking about a system with a gas and a temperature gradient moving towards equilibrium and a nice bell curve of kinetic energies, it isn't immediately obvious how the possible microstates and degrees of freedom would be effected by that (as long as something just stays in the gas phase, the DoF, at last, shouldn't change much, right?), even though by the 2nd law we know that entropy must be increasing.

Is trig not a requirement for physics at your educational institution? Or are you just teaching yourself?

You just need to understand trigonometry in order to answer your question. I'd draw you a picture but this is the internet.

Right triangles man, triangles...

>perpetual energy/light

Can you be more specific? "Perpetual energy" has no established definition that I know of.

>>4539447
Certainly, if your idea of perpetual needn't be any longer than your own life time, a star will certainly do. Of course, this does kinda depend on how much energy you want to extract from the star, but it's safe to say that you won't need very much relative to how much a star can put out.

Perpetual motion machines only exist in theory because they can only exist when isolated from the rest of the universe, which scientists refer to as being inside of a "closed system"; there is no such thing as a closed system, therefore there is no such thing as perpetual motion. Furthermore, just as in the example of the star, it is easy enough to build a machine that will continue in motion for an arbitrarily long period of time, much longer than your lifespan; so, practically speaking, if you define perpetual as "as long as I want", then that's certainly possible because getting really close to a closed system, no energy can escape or leave, is not difficult. More importantly, however, none of what I just said actually matters because, in the end, once the act of extracting energy, or work that is useful for things us humans want to do, from a perpetual motion machine commences, it ceases to be a perpetual motion machine by any stretch of the imagination.

I hope this has helped.

fixed that for you

Did you even know that khan academy has games for learning math all the way up to calc 1?

OP is a fag imo

You'll have mutations here and there, and your telomeres will be a lot shorter.
Of course, if you sample tissues in which the cells don't divide much (such as brain matter) there will be much less difference.

http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/09/monkeymusic/

If this is true, then why do all my pets freak out when I use the vacuum, garbage disposal, lawn mower, blender, etc, but they're completely chill no matter how loud I put my music? If I play static from the same speakers I play my music out of, it still freaks them out.

I have both cats and dogs in my house, and they're both pretty much the same(except the small dog, that one only gets scared when I'm upset)

Hello, /sci/,

I have a query regarding sleep patterns; lately I've found that I study best at nights - that is, I feel most focused around midnight and up to ~4-5 AM.
I've considered the idea of centering my daily rhythm around this time when I study best, arranging my sleeping habits so that I sleep from 4 PM to midnight, then get up and study.
Maybe it's just psychosomatic and it's me believing that I'll study better at midnight and forwards, not sure.

Thoughts on this? Complete rubbish? Any health hazards.

I'm not the one saying it exists, you're the one that needs to clarify it really does if you're the one saying so. Prove to me any knowledge you have is real..
Prove to me there is such thing as living, prove to me that I am actually living.
