Why are there never any good neuroscience threads on here?

I'll be teaching my first bachelors course. I've lectured PhD students and post-docs before, but for some reason this is more scary. They don't know as much so I'll have to make sure I'll keep things simple. I'm not very good at that.

how long does it take for human sentience/self-awareness to become active?

do newborns already have working thalamo-cortico-thalamic circuits, or do they cultivate several months into development out of the womb?
