I used to do a ton of shit when I was studying to be a laboratory technician, I'll probably die of cancer one day

Hi /sci/,

So I got a two months internship coming up this summer, problem is it's in a small city (population <50k) and I don't know anyone there. Any advice for making nerd friends? I have a good friendship group in uni but this city doesn't have a university. Looked online and it doesn't seem like they've got a local /tg/ store either. I know the default advice is "just go to a bar and talk to someone lmao" but I feel like people my age generally don't just go to a bar alone looking for friends. Any tips appreciated.
