I study Computer Science at university, and Im currently taking a course in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design. The course is boring as hell and its really a pain in the ass, so much crap to learn and so many books to read, and Im just wondering if Im going to work as a programmer later do I really need to know about UML and all the various kinds of diagrams there is (class diagrams, sequence diagrams etc).

This might not be the right place to ask but Im guessing there are some programmers lurking here who could answer my question :)

OK. I make a statement to you. Then I ask the question, "IS IT POSSIBLE?"

What is your answer?

Quick question for you /sci/

Do you think things like psychics and telepathy belong in a science fiction story?

They have no basis in reality/science like many of the other topics commonly used in sci-fi like teleportation, FTL/Warp travel, ET, time travel, etc.

How do you feel when a science fiction story introduces telepathy?

You know what kind of shit you can find like endless resources and other life forms and shit...

Even fuckin new elements that are just waiting to be used as an infinite energy source and shit...

OK /sci/

Everyone was talking about the big NASA conference happening today but not a single thread about it on the first page exists

Did anything exciting get announced or was it just another disappointment?

I got this pic off of /adv/ and I wondered if any of you could explain to me why the galaxy in the last panel shouldn't exist, according to physics.
