There are different types of investors, shorters for example are betting against the value of something rising, and sometimes covertly work to make sure the stocks their shorting fail. Borderline if not overtly illegal, but they get away with it most of the time. Elon and a lot of other businesspeople hate the fuck out of shortlets, because they often contribute very little of any real value to any industry, seeing as how their entire strategy for profit is based on the failure of productive enterprises.
