/sci/ducks, I'm curious.

The protist pictured on the left is Euglena, it is an animal in all respects except one - it has chloroplasts, obviously allowing photosynthesis.

My question is, how did Euglena evolve to have chloroplasts?

/sci/ducks, I'm curious.

The protist pictured is called a Euglena. It is an animal cell in all aspects but one: It has chloroplasts, which obviously allow photosynthesis.

My question is, how did the Euglena evolve to possess qualities of both animal cells and plant cells?
