It's Shuttle II actually.

No, because SpaceX is willing to iterate on their vehicles quickly, unlike NASA who sat on the technology to upgrade the Shuttle for decades because Congress didn't give them the funding and they were afraid of rocking the boat.

Would this make a good warship for LEO conflicts? I can imagine adding ablative tiles to the upper side would make it damage resistant to lasers and the like?

Yeah cool shit man. Would a space war using modern technologies have “Space-Only” ships like that, or would it be more like X-37’s and Space Shuttles being outfitted with guns.

In the setting I’m making humanity isn’t Interplanetary. I am thinking of adding a Lunar base to make the setting more interesting.

So far the American “fleet” consists of Space Shuttles that have a NERVA stage instead of the SSME’s. The shuttle stack is different too, with the boosters being liquid and having fly back wings, and the external tank having the engines instead of the orbiter.

The Russians would probably have the same thing but with Buran right? Or would they just use the TKS spacecraft?

Also CoaDE looks like a cool game. But that seems a bit farther into the future than what I’m looking at. Although it would make sense for Lunar Orbit to have Space-Only ships.

A Raptor powered ascent-stage isn’t a great idea and it’s not because of the cost. The ascent engine has to be the pinnacle of reliability, meaning a simple pressure-fed hypergolic engine like the SuperDraco is an optimum choice for the role and not a complex engine using cryogenics. If I were SpaceX I would bid Starship, but with a detachable upper-section that’s powered by SuperDracos. Not only will this design be able to satisfy NASA’s abort to Gateway requirements, but it’s also an opportunity to get NASA to foot the bill for developing a launch escape system for normal Starship operations.

Why would I do it, when others have done it for me? (Pic related)

The initial Buran was marginally better in capability, but would be more expensive to operate than the Shuttle because your dumping far more hardware each flight: 4XRD-170 boosters and a 4XRD-0120 core stage, compared to just the Shuttle’s orange tank with the SRBs being recovered and refurbished.
