I can't see how having a possibility of being controlled by someone else and having my thoughts exposed to anyone who is competent enough to find out is a good thing.
While these things certainly can be of great benefit to everyone. The current grim state of the world and politics suggest that we are somewhere in the calm before some giant shitstorm which will affect us all. It's gotten to the point where new tech and it's potential to be used as a weapon just outright scares me.

Well that's just the thing; nobody knows what the experience of being placed in suspended animation is like, since nobody has yet been revived from such a state.

Though it seems it should be a painless, sleep-like state, I'd be rather hesitant to commit myself to what might turn out to actually be some sort of eternal and unspeakably horrible "I have no mouth and I must scream sort" of thing.

It's a well known fact that Negroes worship Cthulhu, and other such loathsome heathen deities, at a rate roughly six times greater than that of Europeans.

One.

As long as there is more than one person on Earth, there will be competition over resources. Human desire is infinite, while resources remain limited.

Peak Oil is not the main issue here. This could be replaced by nuclear powerplants and solarpanels. Cars could be using electric motors and biofuels if it weren't for one thing: metal and water scarcity.

These green technologies cost a lot of energy and to be quite frank, we don't have that many good mineral fields left. With worse grades, the energy imput will increase, making minerals more expensive decreasing the growth of green energy. which in turn leads to more expensive energy. The energy return on investments will only decrease.

The only way to solve this conundrum is recycling minerals and using the minerals that are abundant in supply, like magnesium.

http://www.theoildrum.com/node/3086 is a good article on peak minerals
