I'm willing to bet the reason AI hasn't gone truly advanced is that it doesn't have am actual body to be in. If we were to house an AI into a mechanical body that has receptors to feel pain and shit, we could get a truly sentient AI in a matter of years. Humans aren't exactly born truly perfect, too.
