/sci/, how does one choose a good university for science and math? Is the number of buildings dedicated to their study, or the age of said buildings, a relevant factor?

I am currently choosing between 2 schools near my home. They are:
>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Tennessee_at_Chattanooga
and
>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Tennessee

The second school is much larger, and has a much better ranking (both easy to see from the wiki pages I linked), but I don't know whether either of those would mean it's actually better.
