The beautiful thing about maths is, that almost every great mathematical advancement was just made for the heck of it, as a mental exercise, for the sole purpose of mathematicians entertaining themselves.

And while most of mathematics has no application to the real world, every industrial/scientific advancement is due to maths - engineers and physicists just work out the details. This is why maths is the queen of all sciences, she gives the most, but tries the least.

Why are Germans so STEM? Is it genetic?

Every single German I know online is a scientist or engineer, or studying to become one of the two. Muh heritage is 75% German and I'm studying Physics, 100% on my dad's side and he's an engineer along with most of his brothers.

What gives? Is there some kind of Germanic autism in our genes?
