Greetings /sci/, are you up to the challenge?

I have a problem with a program which requires mathematical expertise far greater than mine to resolve. The solution to part 1 appears to vary depending on what the values are, so posting the solution I've got won't be of much use. Part 2 is what I'm interested in.

Part 1: Create a function of the form-
P= f(n,x,q,t,m,c)
where
P= probability of success
n= number of random integers > 0
x= maximum possible value of random integers
q= value for which all numbers less than this value are discarded
t= number of equivalent non-discarded values required for a "match"
m= number of matches that must be acheived to attain "success"
c= boolean, either 1 or 0. If 1, matches are "cumulative" meaning that each additional equivalent value after "t" counts as an additional match. If 0, only count an additional match for 2t, 3t, etc.

Part 2- the correct answer to part 1 is not a closed for equation. Removing only a single variable from the function, write a closed form equation that expresses P as a funciton of the remaining variables.

My DIY research is getting conflicting reports from varying sources.

One source insists that an rDNS trace will tell you every computer between you and the client that accessed you, as far back as the ISP, and that internet anonymity relies primarily on jurisdictional barriers to search warrants against the ISP.

Another source claims that a proxy is effectively an untouchable source of anonymity. That rDNS will only provide the proxy's IP, and that it is otherwise impossible to trace which proxy user accessed your system.

What is truth? What is lies?
