Sea Dragon was designed to be 23 meters wide. Considering how the entire project was built around "go big or go home" there might be a technical limit to how wide a rocket-worthy pressure vessel can be, at least in the 1960s.

Why didn’t spacex just make their boosters resistant to sea water and make them decelerate just before they fall into the ocean? Drone ship landing is cool but it seems unnecessarily complicated to develop.

I thought those vernier thrusters are supposed to be firing for the whole duration of flight? Why do they cut off right as the whole rocket leaves the water?
