Sup /sci/, I come to you because I assume you guys would have knowledge about these things.

So, I took organic chem during the summer at a public state uni (I go to a private school) and I got railed hard the second quarter. The last day to drop was a few days ago (The date was actually AFTER the class officially ended but before grades were released, which I thought was odd.)

Now, is there any way that I could still argue dropping the class or have it somehow erased from my record through some legitimate means? I know that these things generally stay on your record but there must be some way, right?

inb4 you're fucking stupid, why didn't you just get a higher grade, etc. Yes, I'm stupid but please help a stupid person out. That shit was hard btw, fucking whole quarter of ochem in 9 days.

>tl;dr: how to erase a grade from transcript/record.

nice thread op

But may i ask a question - what exactly do you do with any halogenated waste you have? How do you go about disposing of it?
Also, what other synthises have you performed? Regail us :)

As quickly as you can, tell me everything you know about grading curves at UC (UCR).

I'm taking the summer ochem sequence there and I want to know how grading it going to work. Is it 10% A's and 10% B's, etc?

Is 10% pretty much the standard distribution for A's and B's?

Pic unrelated but highly related

>Gen chem II lab
>Semester long experiment
>One week has me doing some titration experiment that requires you to not only be just as accurate as always, but extremely fast since the shit you're using oxidizes with air and will thus fuck up your results if you take longer than a minute
>First three trials are failures due to high percent error
>Second three trials are failures due to high percent error
>This shit keeps up until I need to repeat the lab again
>MFW shit like this happened several times throughout the semester

I fucking hated chem lab so much...

Would it would be possible to use an organic intermediate like a carbocation as an electrolyte?

I was just wondering how long these intermediates actually exist, because if they exist long enough theoretically I can make an electrolyte for an instant from mixing say ethene and bromine water. Would this work?

You need to perform experiments and see if the results are as predicted by your hypothesis.

Surveys however are for research prior to forming a hypothesis. They form the basis of your observation so that you may then begin making predictions.

You seem to have formed a conjecture and accepted it as a hypothesis without first performing said research, so you are not off to a good start.

Hey /sci/

I'm writing a paper on HCl and CH3OOH and their rates of reaction with Sodium Thiosulphate and I would really appreciate some help.
So I know that HCl is a strong acid, and CH3OOH is a very weak one and this is because HCl has a greater ability to liberate H+ ions than CH3OOH does. What I dont get is why. Anyone care to explain please?

Thanks a bunch, guys!
