Is ochem 2 harder than biochem 1?

Well boys. Its official. I just failed out of my school. Couldn't handle junior level classes for chem eng and the depression and drinking became too much.

Time to go an hero I suppose. But before I do lets have a fun thread chem thread.

>ChemE thread

Friendly advice to all you early ungrads. Don't buy into this meme. Don't make the mistakes I made. Only stick with this major if you are a stellar student, absolutely love the material, and are willing to take a risk on your employment. This is one of the hardest engineering majors there is and you will work hard at it to only find that the number of chemE grads exceeds the number of positions available. There is a very good chance you will be ripping your hair out after not being able to find an engineering job.

High school senior here (18), so yeah I'm a brainlet to a degree.

Is pchem like an applied version/class of quantum mechanics or are they not really the same thing?

Philosophy question for you /sci/, is there one fundamental science, or do math, physics, and chemistry make up a three pillar system where neither can exist without the other two?

Any chemists on? I'm in the middle of ochem, i've learned Sn, E, and all those special rxns for alkenes and alkynes like oxymercuration demercuration, ozonolysis, halogenation, etc. We're about to start learning radicals.

Please tell me it becomes more interesting than this. I thought I wanted to be a chemist major, but doing this root memorization of 1000x reagents/mechanisms/rxns is boring as shit.

Was talking to my chem partner in lab today, he said that there exists some chemical compound that is so incredibly deadly, that just by spilling a few drops on exposed skin causes prolonged painful death. Apparently it fucks you up by denaturing the majority of the proteins in your body. He said that there is no known cure for it.

Any idea what this thing might be?

why the fuck is the jump from ochem 1 to ochem 2 so fucking dramatic? ochem 1 ending on Sn and E rxns is easy as long as you practice. fucking addition rxns and radicals just feels like someone takes a fire hose and drowns you in a matter of seconds.

Starting Ochem, anyone know of any good textbooks that they would essentially have for ochem 1? Want to get ahead of the curve while I'm on break.

how much of the math and physics you're taught at uni is used for engineering related careers?

>am chemEng
>suck at math
>sticking it out for the love of chem
