Is it normal for a community college basic English class to be 3 hours and 50 minutes long? It's not a college English class but more of a high school English class to get you to take college English courses. It's only one day but it's a long day. Will the notes also be long?

So I'm enrolling in community college and I was wondering if I have to go to only one community college to get a degree. There's a community college that doesn't offer the degree that I want but it has classes that I need to take like English and Math. It's about 15 minutes away from my house. While the community college that offers the degree is a hour away. Can I take English, Math, and other regular classes and then take the subject for the degree in that other community college after I'm done with the first community college?
