Can you become lost into the nostalgia of the retro world, and have this actually f*** up your perception of time?

Total number of active doctors of medicine in the U.S. 826,001

Total number of psychologists in the U.S.: 106,500

If psychology was as advanced as pretty much every other science, there'd be at least as many psychologists as doctors and probably more. Shit would also be a lot God-awful. Most people are at least somewhat crazy, if functional as economic units.

As it stands, Psychology is at beast only marginally a science, only able to give a marginal result about years and tons of money on individuals, and practically no effect on society as a whole. Psychology has failed to make us better people, which is the whole fucking point. Contrast that to medical science, which has done a ton to give people more healthy lives.

There's a reason why many people think that psychology is bullshit: because much of it is.

Is psychology just a higher abstraction layer of biology, specified to humans?
I'm using the term "Abstraction layer" as it is used in CS.

Hey, /sci/,

I have a Psychology paper due Monday, and I need some info to start.

The prompt is:
" Based on your knowledge of psychology, explain why the field of psychology has multiple perspectives rather than a single paradigm upon which most psychologists agree. Then, compare and contrast any two perspectives in psychology to illustrate why multiple perspectives remain in psychology."

The two fields I'm choosing are Psychodynamic and Cognitive. I'd be great if you guys could help me with some info to properly compare and contrast.

Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure if this is where I should post, but this seems the most suitable.

To the point of this thread. In my psychology 101 class recently we touched on "Tabula Rasa" and what it's basis was, but I'm quite interested in this, and decided I wanted to try and learn more about it.

In short, does anyone have any good links or prior research on this subject.

This is before I start my own investigations, as I find anything interesting I'll post it in this thread.
