Suppose such mind reading technology exists. You and your friend are plugged into a mind reading machine made by Google. You see the world from his perspective and witness that indeed his red is your blue. "Great, finally we solved this mystery!" you think. Since it was a fun experience you two try to repeat it. But this time you use a mind reading machine produced by Amazon. Surprisingly, this time his red is your yellow. Oh no, that means one of the two machines must be wrong! How do we find out which one is wrong?

What is the reason why the principle of sufficient reason is true?

I know his work on Hilbert's 10th problem which is really nice. But other than that what did he do?

I can relate, at least partially. For me logic is the easiest or most intuitive branch of math. It feels like an extended IQ test. I just don't consider it particularly interesting. I'm fine with having understood Gödel but I have no incentive to go into HoTT or whatever. The geometric and analytic branches of math are much more interesting to me.

Why are beautifully elegant mathematical theorems more often true than complicated unaesthetic conjectures? Is there a deeper connection between aesthetics and truth?

To explain entanglement, pilot wave theory needs an infinitude of global hidden variables. That's quite a high epistemological cost.

Why "muh emergence from complexity" is unconvincing: The proponents of emergentism claim that qualia come naturally with a highly complex information processing architecture in the brain. However, most qualia are in fact the opposite of complex. Color vision for example takes only 8 bit to represent. Smell takes maybe 16 bit. This is very low information content. Even the simplest computing chips are more complex than that, yet nobody would claim them to experience qualia.

why not just let the mentally ill shoot heroin and do hard core drugs all day? seems the only way to alleviate their suffering. calming them down with opiates seems much better than loading them up with anti psychotics.

Wow, if only if we had a government agency that specializes in space and aeronautical engineering.
