What are my odds
>going to grad school for applied math
>USA
>Good uni (Purdue)
>3.75 GPA
>3.59 Major GPA
>One shitty semester, rest have 3.81+ semester GPAs
>In research lab, though it doesnt directly pertain to my major
>three recs, one from a full professor, the other from associate profs

Assuming I nail the GRE, would I be competitive for a top 20 program?

We had a substitute teacher for several months in a high school English class, she was disliked by almost all the students really fast and was practically bullied out by the time a new teacher came in. Think of a middle aged Tumblr user combined with a crazy cat lady
>crazy book lady, said her house was full of boxes of books, apparently reading was her life
>could not keep control of the class or be taken seriously
>she doubled down on the authority approach and assigned essays all the time
>lots of boring projector work too, with an outdated laptop
>this only made students resent her more
>was really out of touch with the class
>strongly favored females over males, if the whole class was talking during group work she'd tell males to stop talking but say nothing about the group of girls 3 feet away
>everyone begins resenting her more strongly
>people stop taking her seriously
>the class slowly descends into chaos over time
>we begin looking forward to her class so we can fuck around and have fun
>we'd use our break period to fold up paper into projectiles for rubber bands and prepare for war
>kids ignoring instruction
>people throwing shit at each other and talking to each other every time she turns around
>she'd turn back and see a bunch of shit on the floor
>several incidents of students making fun of her directly in class
>someone once put a thumb tack on her chair and she sat on it
>eventually there's a class meeting and another teacher shames us for 10 minutes over our behavior
>we get a new teacher and class grades shoot through the roof and the class mood and obedience improves significantly
Sometimes I feel bad but she really didn't belong in a classroom.
