Is studying physics pointless?

If he studied computer science, he would be earning £50k+ a year.

It just that I quit studying Physics and went into programming instead. I regret the decision, but I know I would have ended up like this guy.

Imagine getting a PhD in Physics just to work in a call centre where your treated like shit. He looks like a virgin aswell.

I can literally find and learn all of this stuff online from books and videos. Why bother going to school for these topics again?

>pic very related
Visit this board for long enough and you'll see countless threads made by physics grads planning to an hero cause they can't get any jobs. Don't be fooled by the "physics smart degree, so physics gud degree" meme. When you graduate you'll find yourself between a rock and hard place.
>Can't get engineering jobs, because you'll be competing with engineering grads.
>Cant get comp sci jobs, because you'll be competing with comp sci grads.
>Can't get math jobs, because you'll be competing with math grads.
And you can't get physics jobs, because there aren't as many as you might think, and the few that are available will be taken by ivy league superstars. The hard truth is that unless you plan on staying in academia or being a teacher, a degree in physics doesn't mean much in today's economy. My advice? Change majors if it's not too late. I know several universities allow physics majors to jump right into their engineering programs as long as they're not too far in their degree. Your physics buddies might laugh at you for "lowering yourself to engineering", but you'll be laughing at them come graduation when you've got a job right out college they find themselves unemployed in an unforgiving job market.

Studying physics is not a good career move, even for traditional students.

Go to trade school, OP.

Dude a physics degree is not marketable anymore no one cares finance and computer science are the best degrees to get and you're not gonna get hired over these people we dont live in the 90s or some shit there are unemployed phds physics is only good if your top tier and can contribute to a research field. Hell with a physics bachelors you might end up in a call center or Denny's cookin eggs man
