We've been genetically modifying crops for thousands of years. Animals, too. We're just better at it nowadays.

Well, if the factor for time dilation is 2.236 then 1/2.236 * 50 = roughly 22.36 minutes subjective time passed on the spacecraft during it's 50 minute voyage.
According to the earth and station base clocks, the pulse is received at 13:30, while the clock in the spacecraft will show 12:22 when the pulse is sent. More math to figure when the spacecraft receives the pulse, but it will be seriously redshifted. And the time difference will continue to get larger, resulting in eventually the personnel working with the craft on Earth dying of old age while those on the spacecraft are just turning grey.

I want to give my soon-to-be 10 year old nephew some type of book with lots of graphics about planets and generally the universe. What updated and easy to get books do you recommend that may interest a child that is exposed to way too much tv?
