Currently working on a BS, planning on grad school after, go into research or college education. I'm doing pretty well, I've already done some faculty research and managing a B average... but I've been thinking of maybe taking a look at high school education as a fallback in the event that for whatever reason (grades/gre/costs/whatever) I can't get into a research school.

What kind of paths are there to getting teacher certification?

I don't understand how
(x-6)(x+3) 9(x-5) (x-3)(x-9)
_______ - ________ = ________
(x-5)(x+3) (x-5)(x+3) (x-5)(x+3)
I understand the denominator but where the hell did the x-9 come from?! Please help, I'm a long time patron of /sci/ and have a final tomorrow (accelerated course) that I've having trouble studying for.

They wouldn't work. Gear would tunnel through themselves and render the Hollywood style nanomachines useless. We're never getting anything better than a 50% improvement in what we have now....

If you want realistic technology, Quantum Computers are the wave of the future!

The biggest thing that can be done to improve science literacy is making science more accessible.

For many laypersons, subjects like physics might as well be a foreign language - whether it's a family member wanting to hear about what you're working on at school or a newscaster looking for some input on a story - one of the most important aspects of science advocacy is knowing how to translate scientific concepts into something understandable to anyone.

Also the damn stress of the position. You can't compare it to something more leisurely such as programmer where you can take days off whenever you feel like it barring impending deadlines and such.

Ahh, an excercise in mathematical futility recounted with grammatically challenged futility. Yep, now it does.

Why would there be a "Z" in planes?
Last I checked, planes are two dimensional.
Troll?

Hey guize, I'm totally stumped on this problem and am actually wondering if it has a solution at all. Been thinking about it for well over an hour and have made no progress. If someone knows the right way to solve, I would love to learn this correctly. Question:
A student added 8.74g of Mg(OH)2 to 306mL of 1.0M HCl. What was the pH after the reaction was over?

Given: Mg(OH)2(s) + 2HCL(aq) -> MgCl2(aq) + 2H2O(l)

no but i assume that humans are born with a special sense of melody and that this music is quite the opposite and therefore sounds scary, cos i'm not familiar with it.
but even death metal is more soothing than that stuff...

I just conducted a little experiment and found out that most people on /x/ don't believe in a God. I didn't expect that.
