I can't write a comedy.
Instead I'll write a cautionary tale about how the colony gets more and more hamstrung and held back as it develops due to less and less dedicated and driven people moving to it, eventually making it little different to Earth in all the worst ways. It would start very hopeful, with great emphasis on the idealism and the optimistic characters. It would gradually shift focus to the vapid, petty, and cynical characters over time until the original characters basically seem to have nearly been forgotten about by the show itself. They'd still show up some from time to time to keep them in the audience's mind and further showcase the stark difference between the then and now. Any time a newer group moved to the colony the preexisting group would have characters who want to make sure they fit into the colony rather than making the colony fit to them. They'd end up being in the minority every time, being overshadowed by the people who are more "laid back" and "chill." All of this would hopefully showcase well not only how a group starts off strong and gets corrupted over time but also how to avoid that happening and the necessity of doing everything possible to prevent it.
