I've recently an IQ test and I was rather unhappy with the results. It said my VIQ was 129 but my PIQ was 86.

Now I do kinda feel like a bit of a Tyrone.

I do think my results where influenced by stress but I still feel rather bummed out about.

Is there a way to train my brain to achieve a higher PIQ?

Should science-fiction authors be allowed to write characters with IQs higher than theirs?

One of my favorite mystery authors claims his main character has 170 IQ but the author himself sounds more like a 110-120.

How can a mere 120 imply he has a complete understanding of the mind of a 170 IQ person?

I myself am a 140 and I can't even imagine what a 170 IQ mind is capable of.
It completely breaks my immersion and suspension of disbelief.

I don't understand intelligence, IQ, g-factor, any of that.

What do you say to people who claim that what we consider intelligence is just a particular way of surviving in in our mathy, bureucratic, analytical, western culture, and that there's no objective intelligence? What if the people who devised the concept of intelligence just took something that's considered 'succeeding' in our culture, did some research on people who had this quality, and then found out these kind of people tend to succeed? Well, dah. What if that's all there to is, just a lot of different ways to specialize, and being intelligent is just one of them?

What if being unintelligent or 'irrational' is just people valuing unorthodox and non-mainstream things? Not all people value financial success. What I've heard about it, being famous or rich often sucks a lot, you have little privacy, people constantly try to find fault with you, people demand a lot from you, you get a lot of critique, you have to please a ton of people.

Why does everyone have an incredibly high IQ? I'm not asking "Why is everyone incredibly smart?" but why everyone has a genius level IQ these days. Are we all just good at solving problems?
Here's a passage from a paper I was reviewing today: " I could list the great minds through the ages that had depression or anxiety and were greatly successful, but that doesn’t really make my point. The point is that someone like me, with severe depression, anxiety, and mood disorder, who also happens to (and perhaps as a result of the way my mind functions differently) have an IQ of 142 which is in the 99.7th percentile—the exact opposite of a disorder affecting cognition."
This fucking "IQ genius" can't even talk about their IQ without making a grammatically incorrect sentence.

Why is /sci/ so obsessed with IQ?

I'm pretty dumb, /sci/, my IQ has been rated as of 126, can I increase it? Like doing sudokus or something

I've yet to actually try a "legit" IQ test, though I've been experimenting with different questions from varying IQ tests across the web. Do IQ tests really just seem to test pattern recognition and mathematics faculties?

I'm trying to find a correlation between field of study and IQ, and for that I'm going for the most academically oriented board on 4chan.

Please state your major and your IQ score on an actual IQ test that you've taken in the past, internet test excluded (unless you have one that simulates the real deal and you were honest with yourselves and did it alone)..
