Is this true /sci/ ? Will we never have practical teleportation?

If teleportation works by copying yourt molecular structure do you effectively die by stepping in? Can consciousness be transferred as well?

I know that, what I mean is would something like the 12th or IDK 30th level be used in something like a transporter or something (like the rate of change of motion/position of particle x to particle y to particle z)?

How does quantum teleportation work? I heard that scientists have teleported atoms and photons, is this true? And how is it done? From what I've read it seems more like it's quantum copying than teleportation, any thoughts on this?

Is it theoretically possible to swap two areas of space-time to achieve personal teleportation (as opposed to copying and destroying molecules and essentially killing you)?

Why/why not? I can kind of see the point with both sides...
