Why is that terrible post still in sticky, I understand that there is legitimate need to read one of those 'advanced' proof books eventually because they do actually give you some strategies but I have yet to find a book that's better than Tao's Analysis I, where somebody who has never done math in their entire life can actually complete from start to finish and it's fully self contained.

Granted Analysis II is much more difficult and heading into Topology and assumes Linear Algebra but that's what the sticky should be for: 'when you get here then this exists' instead of just a mountain of shitty advice.

Let's see what else is in the sticky under 'Books - Collections':
>a dead amazon link that redirects
Wow top /sci/ right here
>some guy's blog claming various books are free when they are not
This blog claims Tao's Analysis II is free, it's not, neither is any of the other books. Of course we have libgen to get them but they're not officially free.
Every single stats book this guy recommends is garbage, why is this blog even linked? Who's curating the sticky? 'Take all these outdated books that nobody would ever take'.

Betterexplained is pure spam, if you want something better explained type it into youtube. Their trig 'better explained' is absolute garbage.

The computer science content is equally tired and awful, just cut and paste from /g/ memes. Why would a computer scientist learn C ever in their life this is /sci/, there should just be theoretical CS information in there nothing about 'learn to program' that is /g/ territory

Really I would suggest nuking the entire sticky and just keeping that MAA library list, everything else is medium blog tier garbage

Don't worry, by way of generating functions many combinatorics problems can be solved in a pinch by using complex analysis

What is "a math"? Can you point to it, draw a diagram of it? No. "Maths" is a figment of the human mind, just like love or justice.

First, this is a troll thread.
Second, you should know that all those papers are largely bullshit. It's notoriously difficult to replicate human diet studies so basically nobody bothers to replicate the result so all we have are anecdotes. These are generally worthless papers and every doctor is well aware of this which is why they tend to ignore them.

Ok so I actually found the apparently heretical positions he takes.
First, there was a bunch of banter that was poor humor/boomer casual racist jokes he made at some seminars, I discarded these as TMZ-esque tabloid outrage since it was just comments.
Second, there was clearly taking his comments out of context, and framing them to further paint this guy as Goebbels 2.0 where they dig up interviews where his comments were purposely misconstrued, which is what media loves to do.

Finally we arrive at the actual academic heresey, from his upcoming book:
"There is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically. Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so."

To which a Times interviewer then goads him to expand on:
"all our social policies are based on the fact that their (African) intelligence is the same as ours – whereas all the testing says not really". He said there was a natural desire that all human beings should be equal but "people who have to deal with black employees find this not true" which is where the ruse is, he was referring to employee testing.

So tl;dr, for sure this guy a boomer on edgy race commentary cruise control but honestly his comments aren't that earth shattering and definitely don't merit the assloads of media coverage the past week or so. No interviewers challenged him on this either, they immediately ran with the "DIS RACIST!" follow up story instead of getting him to flesh out these comments some more, but alas it's the media.

Basically this.
When confused you seek secondary sources, you refuse not to be able to do all the material. At the end of each chapter, you go through all the concepts, and teach an invisible class out loud to test your own learning. If at anytime you fuck up/fumble your words or have to think to remember go back and review the material again. Keep doing this until you can effortlessly explain every chapter. This just takes a few extra minutes after you complete a chapter and the exercises.

When you do an exercise, think 'how can I prove my answer if correct'. If there's an exercise you can't figure out, systematically attack it with tests like replacing all the variables with 0 or 1 to see what happens. Input corner cases like -1 or the square root of 2, see what happens when you try to solve it. See if some kind of pattern is revealing itself. At this point you are now /sci/, operating on a massive dome level than just injesting the material passively and not really ever knowing what's going on.

>read multiple times
>take multi page notes
>no time
try this:
>take cornell style notes on the important concepts to know
>teach an invisible class the concepts out loud to yourself
>only re-read relevant material if you fuck up the lecture
Spend the rest of your time working problems from previous semesters if they have older course pages with posted hw/exams or buy copies from previous semester students.

To do this on cruise control, since you're already reciting the chapter out loud may as well record it and sell it as a podcast 'coles notes' for the assigned reading. Probably a million other students forced to read your exact biochem undergrad texts since we all know assigned undergrad texts are a huge racket.

I challenge you to find any other mathematicians with the same curriculum.
