What theories? Scientific theories? Science is about what we can comprehend. Lab results, mathematics and so forth, unless you want to quibble over the definition of "comprehend", it has nothing to do with "things beyond human comprehension".

Hey /sci/guys I was wondering about a pretty odd topic a pal of mine brought up on a beer run. I'll skip straight to the meat of it. So the world has a limited amount of resources (pretty obvious) and it doesn't replenish them to meet the needs of an ever-growing populace. Now he made it clear to me that he doubted governments would ever allow this to become a doomsday scenario (I agree) and we began to wonder if letting the human race continue to follow a path it can't fulfill is allowable. We both think the most likely end-game is a world mirroring this one just more violent and with a larger wage-gap. Would you guys be fine if a NWO formed and pushed for a lower amount of humans so those people could live in relative comfort? Something like a world where the amount of humans is kept low but labor is completed mostly by mechanical constructs? Is this even the likely scenario? Are we finding some sort of decoupling that is slowing down the rate of our consumption? I think of how many people are in Africa and the future where they begin to grow past their state of exploitation and shudder.

I'm surprised nobody addressed this but assuming you could get everyone to agree to this it would still not be enough.

To get rid of AIDS completely you would not only have to isolate all said patients but also destroy several species of primates and ban the practice of bush meat entirely to the harshest degree.

If you're going to pull a scorched earth policy you can't half-assed it and not deal with it at the source.

Lets just say megaverse theory is correct. Would it be theoretically possible to travel to a universe almost identical to ours? If so would it be possible to arrive at an earlier moment than our world was at when we left it? Different universe different molecules.
