Which algorithms does pic related use to solve systems of differential equations? Trying to build my own solver system in Python; is it anything beyond Euler algorithms?

ok i started using mathematica few days ago and it's not easy, though i am starting to understand how powerful this program is, all i want to do is drawing a goddamned rotate ellipse with the graphics command. what do i need to do ?

How hard would it be to write a basic CAS as a hobby? Do you have to implement addition, multiplication, etc from the ground up? What would be a good programming language to write it in?

How necessary is it to do mathematics by hand? I'm just now starting my upper division physics courses and I find that a lot of my time is spent evaluating tedious integrals. We're allowed to use CAS software on problem sets, but I'm worried about relying on it too much. What do you guys (other students, preferably) do?

Lets say I have a list like this in mathematica:
testlist = { {date1, value1}, {date3, value2},...}

Is there an easy way to fill in the missing dates and create interpolated data for the missing dates? So I get:

testlistout = { {date1, value1}, {date2, interpolated},{date3, value2},...}
