who are you to say that I haven't worked hard? I was in the top 2% of my class in ACT/GPA/etc and still watched those with far lesser qualifications go straight to a four year through no greater merit of their own, only by luck of birth to a poorer family (low EFC, high scholarships) or richer family (high EFC, few scholarships, but high parental contributions).

I still got into a good university with my academics. I just couldn't afford to go, because they scaled back all my scholarships to match my family's EFC. the system is really messed up, and people like me can and do fall through the cracks.

also, surviving all this time on my own with only a high school diploma (especially in a recession job market full of unemployed liberal arts grads) hasn't exactly been a joyous experience. I've been completely on my own for rent and food and so on since I was 18...I know all about about working hard, believe me.

anyway...thank you for your response, aside from that. I have most of the coursework/quizzes/exams from the first two years of calculus and chemistry at the local four year university (I have a friend who unfortunately didn't survive the weeding--I bought them off him for a cheap price). that being the case, only time will tell if CC coursework is as vastly inferior as you make it sound. if it is that poor, then it seems likely that I'll have to either self-study to accommodate or be forced to quickly catch up when I reach the four year school. although if 3rd/4th year are on a similar difficulty level as the first two, maybe it will still turn out all right. I’d always (perhaps erroneously) assumed that things got harder as you went along.
