We see tentacles mainly in aquatic life, with a show I watched implying that tentacles/arms like those that exist on squids and octopuses simply cannot function at any meaningful strength level in the air. For the sake of science fiction and fantasy monsters that have tentacles while on land, how would those tentacles be at least as strong as the water-based ones? What advantages would they provide on land compared to underwater?
