Okay bros, we need to deliver a manned balloon or something to float around in the atmosphere of Jupiter for a few weeks and then somehow return home. Assuming that transportation to and from the Jovian system is easily available, and given only current or reasonably well characterized near future technology, how would you pull this off?

Is there a more pointless planet than this? It's just stupid. A ball of gas that does nothing. No life, no nothing. What's the point of it even existing?

The Virgin Neptune
>cold
>so far away you can barely see it from the Earth
>gay, boring moons
>relies on stupid shit like methane for color
>storms dissipate within years
The Chad Jupiter
>fucking YUGE
>known since antiquity
>ancients didn't even have telescopes and still recognized him as King of the Heavens
>has a beautiful appearance with lots of contrast
>massive storms that last for hundreds of years
>has the most bitching moons in the solar system, some of which might support life
>has had probe missions dedicated solely to observing him, instead of basically being a pit stop for one probe like 30 years ago

Would Jupiter have continued migrating inward and became a hot Jupiter if Saturn never formed?

For thousands of years human have looked with eyes into outer space, then can telescopes and then space travel gear. Using these, we have seen a massive body. If you passed Grade 3 Science, you may have heard of the term "Jupiter" (see image). For years us humans have looked to Jupiter as a "gas giant'. However, consider this: you can not land a space ship in Jupiter. Well, you could argue that Jupiter is a ball of gas floating around a Hydrogen core, but remember this: gases are infinite in volume as opposed to liquids and solids. Remember this, Jupiter is compressed into a finite amount of space, we will call this value "x". So, Jupiter''s density is infinity/x. And do to the laws of infinity, this is not possible. Which begs the question: How? Consider this, light travels extremely fast (about 300 000km per second). This means nothing in our universe (that we know of is faster). What if, Jupiter was simply a ball of light? This would explain why we can't land a spaceship on it as well as why Jupiter is visible in the sky. Jupiter is known to be EXTREMELY visible, not because it reflects the Sun's rays, but because it is it's own. Think about it, why does it take the Sun 8.5 minutes for its light to reach Earth? It wouldn't, considering the Sun is always shining, the answer is simple, the light from the Sun is always being traded with the light from Jupiter. You may be wondering: where does the energy come from? The answer is simple, Jupiter's red spot, also called a hurricane that's been going on for thousands of years. The "storm" is just a massive creator of energy. This all adds up to Jupiter not being gaseous.

On Jupiter anticyclonic storms give rise to giant red spots and on Earth strands of protein give rise to biological organisms. Is not life simply a phenomenon like weather, there being no abstract reason for it?

But, alas, we feel too deeply. Are we not moved by our emotions like the clouds are the wind? And do clouds not obscure the sun like emotions do our reason?

And with reason in mind, for what reason do we feel? Are these things which give life flavour merely mechanisms of our brains, brains crafted ingeniously by the blind yet painfully fair process of evolution?

Perhaps even up to octuple if there's life on the more inhospitable planets, like Venus or Jupiter (techincally above, but still).

If I travel to Jupiter and drop a lit match into the atmosphere, would it start the methane on fire and create a dwarf star?

What's your favourite planet?

I like Jupiter. The clouds look interesting and detailed in terms of structure and it has a lot of cool moons.
