I have terrible memories with maths and my brain turns into a baby pouting away the airplane whenever I sit through a lecture.
I used to have the same problem with literature, but then I one day decided I am a genius regarding linguistics, I LARPed until it somehow clicked with my brain.

I feel like maths aren't popular because of it. Everyone, most likely to some degree, has memories of some retarded teacher that's incapable of teaching the material, so it turns into the scenario I described above.
It's a confidence/attitude issue
