While it’s a far ways off from saying that you ought to do analysis so it can’t help you with software engineering, analysis comes in really handy for tough algorithm proofs and analytical combinatorics, but these are more CS topics than software engineering. I agree that optimization is the most applicable. Algebra imo helps you solve a lot of incredibly interesting problems in that field, but again, that would probably be more on your time than on the clock at work.

And here I am living in a third world country wanting to study at MIT so these guys drop ut.
