Depends on what you mean by reality. I think the best view is that there is a physical world and a platonic world. The platonic world is defined as the world of abstract computer programs, the same place that the number “pi” lives, and the idealized perfect geometrical circle, and human souls.

The physical world is then able to manifest things from the platonic world wherever computer programs show up in the real world. Like the computer program that computes digits of pi is manifesting an approximation of pi somehow in the physical world. Or human souls, which are really really big computer programs.

In this view, which I think is right, pic-related is obviously wrong and not how it works. Souls live in plato's realm, and are not part of the physical world except where the physical computation is big enough to manifest one.
