I work as a molecular biologist for a government agency and have access to DNA/RNA extraction protocols, realtime and conventional PCR equipment and custom primer/oligo synthesis and in house sequencing service.

If one were to extract one's own DNA, what should one test it for and what would one determine by doing so?
