Something that has enough output in a light and small-enough package to lift itself and a significant payload out of Earth's gravity well.

While I'm hopeful about the rise in the popularity of thorium, it's hardly a tried and tested technology yet.

So if it catches on, I wouldn't expect a larger-scale adoption sooner than a decade or two from now.

I'd give it 50/50 chance to happen in my lifetime.
