the grey thing over the vent is a really big nozzle, the water gets pulled in, used to generate electricity, then sent along the orange/yellow pipe to provide heating where needed. On an actual thing it'd be a much better idea to use the heat from the vent to warm freshwater, so it could be used for sanitation also.
