Wrong, we don't need SLS at all.
You can get to the Moon with propellant depot. Everybody knows that, including Senator Shelby.

I believe that NASA would be extremely interested in having such vehicles, because they're not a monolithic organisation. Politicians, as always, are the problem. We would already have propellant depots in space if it wasn't for a certain senator from Alabama.

I guess that random Indian making that model probably didn't even realize the mistake, and the rest of the team thought that everything was fine.
That picture also makes me think that at some point you should get a hint that building an even bigger rocket is not the correct way. If we had depots, we could land on the Moon in the last decade. No need for Megumin rocket.

Pic related is why you're wrong.
That little thing kills the whole purpose of the Megumin rocket.

NASA did a lot of work on fuel depots even into the mid 2010’s. It wasn’t until Falcon Heavy was announced and suddenly SLS became obsolete that they decided to kill depots - which was ULA’s way of competing with SpaceX.

To be fair, ULA has some brilliant minds. They even worked on propellant d***ts.
