Unless this isn't the version I remember, it does this:
>Travels stupidly fast, accelerating until it's practically unstoppable by most defence methods
>Waits until at a certain speed before carpet bombing with fucking nuke warheads
>Designed to travel at said stupid speeds as close to the ground as possible, flattening structures with its own shockwaves while also spewing radiation
>Fuel will keep it going for a very long time, enough to let it attack a significant number of cities without the warheads
A few of these could easily stop international progress, even if the radiation isn't enough for your doomsday needs.
