Physicists at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Germany have hit a temperature lower than absolute zero, rewriting the laws of physics in the process.

This was achieved through the construction of a quantum gas using potassium atoms, attached to a standard lattice group by magnetic fields and lasers. The magnetic fields were rapidly adjusted, making the atoms transition quickly from a low energy state to the highest possible state, all while the lasers kept said atoms in place. With this negative temperature state, the gas dipped to "a few billionths of a Kelvin below absolute zero."

With this breakthrough has come some rather interesting side effects, leading to potential "new forms of matter." For example, while atoms are usually pulled downward by gravity, those below absolute zero float upwards instead. They also show characteristics much alike dark energy, which is what is (hypothetically) responsible for the expansion of the universe. It's an exciting discovery, that pushes us beyond the theoretical 'walls' of physics.

Hey /sci/. I posted recently about my plans to complete MIT OCW courses on Single Var Calculus, Physics I and II, Intro to Electronics and Computer Engineering.

Before I get too balls-deep in this endeavor, though, I want to know if you guys have any recommendations other than MIT OCW. I've used Coursera courses and they feel more personalized than MIT OCW......opinions about MIT OCW and stuff of that nature? Alternatives?

Alright i have been going on /soc/ lately and the Myers-Briggs Personality research has really got my eye. INTJ here anyone cares.

But I i wanted to ask /Sci/ if there is any readly avalible notes/books/reports on Myers-Briggs. Or more so is it accepted in the science community? Or is it more like a more science Facebook personality test? Any other leads on this topic of personality would be fantastic

Respectively, those are:

Test method for apparent porosity,
Qualitative Adhesion testing
Test method for abrasive wear resistance of cemented carbides
Uniform test methods and frequency specifications
Corrosion resistance of stainless steel by immersion in a sodium chloride solution evaluation method,
Preparation of Powder Metallurgy test specimens

Practice for establishing consistent test method tolerances

and section G is a bunch of other test methods, of particular interest to me is G133, a test method for determining wear on a linearly reciprocating ball-on-flat sliding motion.

Again, many thanks to the bold and noble individual who aids me.

Best place to download science textbooks or science related books?

I've tried searching the IRC channels #bookz and #ebooks but since none are science specific I couldn't find anything of what I was looking for.

Apparently the college that I am going to transfer to has classes that do not allow calculators. How can I review half the math classes I've taken up to calculus 2 before the spring semester rolls around? If you guys are curious my major is aerospace engineering.

alright /sci/ heres the question. Would both the man and semen travel back in time to a point before the semen left the man or would they both just be destroyed by the force resulting in a massive release of energy as E proves that it = mc^2?

/sci/ I would like to discuss this picture for a moment into further detail, let us for a moment assume that the calculations in this picture are correct and also let us assume that there is a group of people on 4chan mature enough to ignore the vulgar things that are being done to that man's penis while simultaneously having the mental capacity to understand general relativity.

Now, I, being a biochemist, do have enough algebraic skill to solve this particular problem without a particular problem, however, It is in my opinion that this way of solving it is fundamentally flawed because according to general relativity nothing with mass can go equal to or greater than the speed of light (3x10^8 mps) but only approaching the speed of light.

Here is the tricky part for me, as I said before, algebraicly I have no problem with this but this is not the way to do it because general relativity predicts that this cannot happen, also I'm bad at fizix, so I can't do this with my skill set.

So, fizixists of /sci/, what is the true velocity of the man and that of the man's cum-cano
