Their inclination is north enough that it's hard to *use* GEO sats from Russia. That's why they use Molniya orbits.

That would be amusing, since perigee is the fastest part of the orbit, so they would need to put a lot of birds on that wire. Russia uses molniya orbits to sub for GEO at high latitudes, and even then it still takes like four of them.

Satellites don't give a fuck about the earth's rotation aside from any extra boost they might get during launch. All the earth's rotation can do is make wacky apparent orbits as seen from the ground.

Maybe because it's relative to the general rotation of the galaxy, not an outside view. Lots of orbits look crazy when viewed from an inside frame of reference.
Of course that's assuming it isn't just artistic liberty.
