That just isn't true, they heads were massive. Even heidbergensis had human sized brains, the skulls were just bigger than ours, so they did not bulge. A neanderthal would stand out because of his huge head.

Yet another reminder that people had modern brain size since the late erectus/heidelbergensis. Their faces were bigger than ours. There was no increase in brain size in modern people.
