If you get noise in a form of 2+2=5, its literally a logical error, you don't just sit here and say "haha yes, 2+2 is 5 now", retard. You figure out where extra 1 came from. In fact, you already fucking know that extra 1 came from somewhere, so you know that it really was 2+2+1=5, because it literally has to be, that's how trivial arithmetic works, you ape.

Why did it take Whitehead and Russell 300+ pages to prove that 1+1=2? The layman's proof would be something like:

1. you take one thing (1)
2. you add (+) another one thing (1)
3. you count on your fingers until you get the result (=) which is 2
4. therefore, 1+1=2

I mean I know I am being flippant here. Believe it or not, I actually took a logic class once (didn't get a good grade though lol) so I kind of know the difference between true beliefs, valid reasoning, stuff like that.
But still...what is the point of proving something that's obviously true? And what would happen if it wasn't proven, or was disproven? Would primary schools start teaching children that actually 1+1 doesn't equal 2?

I feel like the above doesn't really explain my objection to the whole thing. It's more like a vague feeling of "what's the use of this thing in the Real World™" that I can neither consciously justify nor dismiss. Please try to understand what I mean even if I can't articulate it myself, lol

Do you ever study and come across a difficult problem, and you get a bit anxious just by looking at it. You look up, scratch, cough and when you almost get back to work, you suddenly remember how hot that waifu from the anime you watched last night is, and you start daydreaming. 15 minutes go by and you realize "fuck, i have work to do, fuck it" another 10 minutes go by and you decide to go out for fresh air.
You have that urge inside of you i have to get back to work, but you don't really feel like it. After you come back inside you go and play games. At the end of the day before bed you are just like, what has my life become.

Civil engineering major here. The way I see it, anyone who hates on engineers is really just jealous that engineers make bank fresh out of college while you "purer" science majors are relegated to teaching positions after 3-4 more years of grad school. Does anyone really think society could function if all the engineers disappeared tomorrow? You guys are fucking delusional if you think that.
