again [citation needed]. Cancers are caused by groups of cells which begin dividing rapidly and out of control. This can be triggered by a number of factors including hormones, radiation, certain chemicals in foods, infection, physical agents such as asbestos or even genetic triggers.

Relaxing yourself releases chemicals like dopamine that can help cure certain ailments like head or body aches. Thinking positive thoughts happens at the same time as the chemical releases not as a precursor. The thoughts are a side effect. The whole "mind over matter" thing is pretty much bunk. Your mind IS matter.
